In the very centre of Spain, Madrid, the capital of the country offers an unrepeatable combination of Spanish culture and cosmopolitan life. In this beautiful city, and its neighbourhoods you can find everything: green spaces, a busy nightlife, monuments, excellent places to eat and many important museums.
Among the must-see museums of Madrid we have the Reina Sofía Museum next to the Prado Museum, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. Only 25 years since its inauguration in 1992 , it has already become one of the most visited and renowned museums in the world. There is an incredible collection of Spanish art, especially from the 20th and 21st centuries. Although you do not understand much about art history, the visit to the museum itself is impressive because of its architecture, since it was established in the old General Hospital of Madrid, a huge neoclassical building of the eighteenth century.
Among the must-see works that you will find at the Reina Sofía, you will be able to visit the works by the most famous Spanish artists such as Juan Gris, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso. In addition, it has works by contemporary artists from around the world in impressive collections that revolve around cubism and surrealism.
In addition to the impressive permanent collection, Reina Sofía has temporary exhibitions and an important library.
If you are going to visit Madrid, what could be better than renting an apartment in the area near this impressive museum?
