Kätkä is a peacefully located holiday cabin with amenities by the lake. Lakeside sauna and good sand beach. The salmon fishing spots of Muonionjoki and the state owned hunting areas are easily accessible.
27 km to the north from Muonio municipality center, lake Kätkäjärvi 25 m (length 2,7 km, width 0,7 km), shallow beach with sand bottom, own rowing boat.
The cabin is built of planed logs. On the ground floor, living room / kitchen, bedroom with double bed, washroom/WC and covered terrace. On the upper floor, 2 beds, another is 120 cm wide, balcony. In addition, one extra mattress that can be placed in different places.
Lakeside sauna with steam room and dressing room. Sauna is equipped with wood-burning sauna stove and water tank connected to the sauna stove. The tank will be used for water heating. Water to the sauna must be brought from the lake (10 m) or from the cabin (20 m) by using a bucket.
Outdoor hut with campfire site. Distance to the river Muonionjoki is less than a kilometer.
River Muonionjoki is a tributary of Torne river, which is the longest salmon river in Europe. Good possibilities for salmon fishing, other fish species are sea trout and grayling. Fishing area: 2502 Tornionjoki -Muonionjoki – Könkämäeno (www.eraluvat.fi)
Fishing in lakes is usually permitted with fisheries management fee. One fishing rod can be used. More information see www.eraluvat.fi With Finnish Forest Administration’s (Metsähallitus) angling permit for Western Lapland you are also allowed to fish in state owned rapids (www.eraluvat.fi).
Small game hunting areas: 2602 Muonio and 1614 Hetta-Karesuvanto (www.eraluvat.fi).
A snowmobile trail is located on the opposite shore of the lake. The snowmobile trail (Victoria trail, continuing to Kilpisjärvi) running parallel the Swedish border is easily accessible.
Ski resort Olos 35 km, Enontekiö municipality center Hetta 50 km, Kilpisjärvi 170 km. Border crossing point to Sweden 30 km.
