Simple hotel but met needs nice. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Very comfortable place to stay. Staff is great and the price is very good. Aways a favorite place tostay when visiting or worki g events.

I enjoyed having a kitchenette as well as two separate rooms and a bathroom, the space is very spacious, the place was clean, the beds aren’t very comfortable and the room needs a few things fixed but all and all it was very good for the price.

It was a dorm so very sparse but clean and pleasant. No complaints, all was good.

Reasonably priced, a bit hard to figure out the entrance but the rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Dorm living :)

It was the first time not using an actual hotel/motel. I loved the fact that there were 2 separate rooms in the room. One my 14 year old had & my husband and I had the other. I only wish that the bed in my room was queen sized but it all worked out. The little kitchenette with microwave and fridge was great too! There’s a common room that you can go and play ping pong, pool and even connect 4 but a bigger version of the regular game. There was also a TV you could use in that room but you have to cast through your phone because they don’t have cable or TV’s in the rooms. I would recommend bringing a laptop if you want to watch TV. Didn’t have to travel far to go grocery shopping as there was a Walmart close by. Staff were always courteous and very helpful. All in all, it was a great experience! Very pleased with our stay.

Rooms can be extremely far from reception. Nothing to carry luggage in. Parking lot is unpaved, gravel based. Not a super safe place to leave vehicle.

Kitchen is shared and can get busy during typical meal times. Not well ventilated so geta hot.

As long as you don’t go in expecting a full service hotel, this is excellent value for the cost. We booked a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for our family with a baby. I love that we could have the convenience of a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms for less than the price of a typical hotel room.

A good costumer service

Having 2 bedrooms was great for our family of 4. Front desk staff was slow and sometimes I waited several minutes for staff to come. The laundry facility only accepts only $5 bill and the front desk didn’t have $5 bills so I left to do laundry elsewhere

Me and my friends stayed for 2 nights and it was nice. Bathroom & showers were clean. Beds were also clean. Would recommend if your in sudbury for the summer and need a cheaper place to stay then a hotel.

The folks at the check in desk were helpful in person, but what the emailed me didn't always match other communicated information. I was led to believe we could call the morning of our planned arrival to see if we could check in a few hours before the regular check-in time. But when I actually did that, I was told that even though the run was ready, there would be an additional charge that they had not mentioned before. So I ended up having to kill time with some exhausted children on a hot day waiting for 3pm to roll around. When they sent us to our room, it turned out that particular room had not actually been cleaned yet, so they switched us to another one. In that one, we found an item left by the previous people. They did not have a proper luggage cart available when we arrived, so offered us a cleaners' cart instead. It was gross. It had half eaten pizza at the bottom. I brought along my own cleaning supplies (having read other people's reviews, and yet needing cheap accomodations!), so I just cleaned the whole suite before unpacking. The counter was sticky. The cupboards were dusty inside. I had also read beforehand that there was daily housekeeping services, but our second day nothing happened. We needed a few more towels and more TP, so I requested just those items be attended to. After that, they gave us the royal treatment, cleaning everything every day, replacing sheets ever day even though we made ou beds (so unnecessary, but OK, fine).

The room itself was clean the hallway and elevator where never cleaned. Had no cart’s available to carry in luggage and it was a long walk. No one cleaned the room or emptied the garbage for the price would expect better. It was quiet for sleeping.

Its ok to sleep instead

The property was as expected. The matress need replacement. It is very noisy when moving. The price was right. I needed just to rest

I didn't like their attitude and the inconveniences of parking permits. Not friendly. During the emergency situation it was not handled well. Plus a worker walked into my room to check AC, didn't give me time to get up and answer door. I will not stay here again.

Perfect place for short stay

Chairs and walls had food/dirt on them. Definitely wished I had brought my own blankets.

Actually, Its college hostel rooms. Which is college management converted temporary to rooms, Its clean property but You CANNOT feel like as hotel 🏨. Not coffee and tea stuff No clothes iron and Stand Overall, If looking for short stay just for sleep and low budget. You can consider it. Thanks

I found the residence at Cambrian College to be as well kept as just about any reasonably-priced hotel that I've stayed at, with the only 'missing' amenity being a TV in the suite.

The facility is very clean and it is close to a lot of resources

It’s a college dorm for goodness sake’s, shouldn’t be advertised as a hotel room It was advertised under hotel, no towels no television, all cement walls , looks like a prison. Expedia won’t refund your money if you book on line. I have booked two rooms for myself and daughter on line can’t seemed to get my money refunded.

Very sparse. If four people had been staying in the suite, more towels and cups would have been needed. Bed, bathroom, table and chairs, microwave and fridge - is all you get. The address given, is not enough to find the property! We searched for approx. 20 minutes on the property. We eventually found a security guard, who directed us to the building.

No AC but good for expectations and price.

Stayed early may. Checkin smooth. Courteous staff. Good for expectations of a residence stay. No garbage cans in units. And no access to AC or thermostat was the detriments.

Close to Walmart, food, and the Canadian Superstore. I wanted to stay longer

The apartment is a student room in the Cambrian College dorm. The road in to the campus was under construction. We couldn't find the elevator at first so went up the stairwell to the 2nd floor. There were very large dust balls in the stairwell. It looked like some type of flooring had been ripped up and glue spots or something was left on the floor. Parking was fairly far from the dorm. It was lit but there wasn't any nearby buildings. We had kayaks on our roof and didn't feel comfortable leaving them in the parking lot. The room itself is set up as two separate student bedrooms with a shared kitchen between the two bedrooms. The room that we had hasn't been updated in I'd guess 20 years or longer. It looked extremely dark vs. the photos we saw when we booked. If you know what you are booking (student dorm room) and looking to save some money this may be a good stay for you. We didn't take more than one step in to the room, we turned around and left and booked at a hotel. We tried to communicate with the property. The person on site had no authority to do anything. We tried to talk to management through Expedia. We never received a response back that to me is the biggest problem of all.

2 days stay

The staff are nice and helpful! It would have been nice if they had added on the hotel add that there is a kitchen but dishes and utensils not included. We could have brought our own. The cups were great!

As the others said is hard to find. You should approach it on Lamotte street from the east of the town. Lamotte is not a trough street as on some maps. Property was clean, you get what you pay for as far as comfort. I liked that there are 2 bedrooms with doors, so is ideal for families. Only bad thing was the bathroom fan was noisy.

Was a little hard to find in the dark, passed by in front twice . Just a small doorway for this campus dorm so because we couldnt find finally saw someone coming out and inquired from them and turned out to be right place. Reception desk very helpful and though a lot of echo in room being all concrete it was clean and Ac worked great, only negative was the blinds not in great condition so light came in early, bed was comfy enough but are double size so if you like more room sleep apart ( there are 2 beds) rate was very reasonable. Would stay again.

We stayed at the conference center west which is the one we had thought we booked for yesterday. The information to differentiate between the two is very poor on Expedia. In terms of this particular facility, routes into it are very hard to find, the layout indoors is terrible, and the rooms were as bare bones as possible to be short of sleeping in a dumpster. We would use the west facility again, though we have no plans to travel in that direction again, but this one, hard pass. Plus one security staffer on the night we checked in knew nothing and gave us what turned out to be very WRONG information. That such a useless twit is employed by this facility speaks to the need to avoid this facility at all costs.

The directions to the property were wildly inaccurate and but for a security person I would never have found it. No signage to indicate the location. Parking is at least 200m. from the front door. No TV. But I guess one gets what they pay for.

Clean. Just what we needed at an affordable price.

Good value for money. The parking lot is a tad inconvenient, and finding my alloted room in the maze of residence hallways was a bit tricky. Room was clean and comfortable.

Easy, clean, and roomy. HVAC fans are a bit loud if you don't like background noise. Great value.

I would have given all 5 stars, but anyone who rents a dorm room has to realize it is just that, a dorm room. Its not perfect, students live in these rooms most of the year so do not expect to have a 5star hotel room for less than $100. But with that said, we were in Sudbury for our daughters graduation from Cambrian, so we only stayed for one night, it was walking distance to the ceremonies, to the college next door. So it was exactly what we needed. The room was very clean, bright and spacious. Came with 2 separate private bedrooms, a kitchen with a full size fridge and microwave, table/2chairs, a big clean bathroom with clean shower. Included towels, comfortable clean double bed in each room with bedding, an extra light blanket and those little soaps and shampoo bottles too. We asked for a quiet room due to sleeping issues and we were very satisfied with the one they provided. (Only issue was my daughter could hear someone walking in loud shoes in the room above her bedroom during the night and her bed was squeaky, but since she has been a student living in these dorms for the past few years she was not concerned, she was used to that) but our room, we heard nothing, had a great sleep. For less than $100 and a nice clean bed to sleep in for the night, I would definitely do it again. But remember, if you are looking for a 5star hotel, move on, but if you want a nice stayover for cheap, choose Cambrian residence. With the high price of hotels, why not!

Simple and clean

Great price and very clean. It is a dorm so nothing fancy but beds are comfortable.

It was a challenge to get some luggage to room. No luggage rack but a huge laundry bin on wheels was offered. The bin was not suitable.

There were no records of my booking. Car park was like half a km away. Room was as bare as possible. So comfort?

Did the job

Good value for the money and close to everything. My only suggestion is that if you want to use microwave, don't forget to bring at least a spoon like we did

Spartan accommodations

This is a very spartan dorm suite. It was very clean and there were lots of outlets for laptops and chargers. This is cheap accommodation well suited to anyone not planning on spending much time in the room. It is a big building that is not well marked. A couple of times I felt like Spinal Tap behind the stage. When I checked in I asked if there would be someone there in the morning so that I could drop off my keys. "Of course, we're 24/7". Next morning I come down at 7:45. No one to be seen. I left my keys on the desk.

Hallway floor dirty, grounds littered. Room not clean especially bathtub and sink. Floor in room dirty. Front desk staff on arrival not fully trained in checking-in guests. Will not return.

It was okay to stay for shorter duration. Easy parking, refrigerator and microwave were provided.

The front desk clerk was a very nice person willing to go the extra mile so the guest have a good stay experience. The property is essentially a student dorm being put to rent to guests. Good value for your money. I didn’t like the squeaking bed. the shower could use another curtain and some better rings also no shampoo amenities was provided. The water needs softening treatment. The air conditioning is central so on off and fan speed control only . As you’d expect there’s No telephone in the room being dorm style. The idea itself of staying at a college residence is very interesting and I would stay again for sure for both the experience and the value. Thanks

Extremely clean

Based on the other reviews, we were quite satisfied to find low cost accommodations for 1 adult and 2 seniors needing separate beds and rooms with a washroom in the unit. The unit was clean, had bedding and towels and an area for us to have breakfast. Tim Hortons was a short walk to get coffee and breakfast. We had a good, no frills, inexpensive place to sleep which is what we wanted. $100 compared to $400 for 2 rooms at a hotel. We just needed a place to sleep.

Convenient place, cheap sheets and towels

Sheets were very cheap, itchy and had many stains, was not confident they were cleaned. Towels were old and cheap. Also there was a pair of dirty womens underwear in the electrical box in the kitchen

Location was easy to find (just follow the signs) and check in was fast. Our room was clean and we were provided the basic bathroom amenities. The room has a microwave and fridge but no coffee machine, plates, utensils etc. A TV can be found in the common area of the dorms. Excellent price!

Nice clean dorm room. Microwave and full-size fridge is great but no ice cube trays and no ice available. It would be an easy fix to have ice cube trays in the freezer for guests to use.

The A/C for the whole building was broken and they omitted to let me know upon checking in. I had to enquire about it and they didn’t offer up any solutions or discounts. There was hair in the shower and on the shower curtain upon arrival, the floors were dirty and dusty.

Dorm room with leaking ceiling

The place is OK for a short stay but having water dripping down from the bathroom above with water damaged ceiling is below what to expect.

The staff recommended a great restaurant to eat at that was unique to Sudbury.

Everything was great! My only problem was that Online pictures show a toaster inside the rooms, and this was not actually the case. They did not even have a toaster in the shared kitchen which was a total let down. They need to update their online photos.

First this is a college campus student housing. Second yes two rooms but the kitchen did not have a glass to drink out of. Minimal amount of towels. No coffee no ice no nothing. Just beds and a bathroom nothing else. So be prepared. For the price sleep and dash it's great. Check in is inside the student dorm entrance across from where Google sends you.

Simple place to stay for much less than a hotel. Could use signs to say where to go.

The Rooms ok one of the and maids walked right into my room while I was in a dead sleep and wolk me up

Both my vehicle and phone GPS could not find the property late that evening. Upon calling the facility directly at around 11 pm, the front desk was no longer open. I had no way to describe where I was to get further assistance to access this as final destination for the evening. So, I then called Expedia directly since I’d paid for but could not communicate to the hotel my whereabouts. I was assured they’d find me a room and was put on hold for over an hour. After being on hold for over an hour I was then told by the Expedia Customer Care person that Expedia could not find me a room but refunded my money. That would have been so much easier to do that from the get go. Customer Care person was pleasant but his ability to make a decision or receive a decision was very poor. The Expedia Customer Care is really nothing more than a Emotional Support Team with little to no power and effect to assist in customer issues such as mine. We ended staying at an Expedia promoted hotel without using the Expedia App. It was actually 20% cheaper booking directly with the hotel. Also, as nice and seemingly appeasing the Customer Care person was, their application of the English language was below what should be expected for a company of this magnitude. Time to find a new travel App? Probably.

It may not be clear form the description, but this is a College dorm. The room was 17 degrees celsius all night long, regardless of the temperature setting. The staff were friendly

The washroom was not that clean. The check in and check out process was quick and simple

We were happy with the accommodation. The benefit of having two rooms while travelling with teens is brilliant. In the evening we left our teen children at the residence while we attended a wedding. A very large group checked in, as we were leaving for the evening. We received several panicked phone calls from our children throughout our evening about noise and aggressive knocking on their door. Our children slipped a note under the door, saying that “we are not part of your group”. The note was taken, and the knocking continued. At one point someone actually tried to put a key in our door. The situation was compounded by the fact that English was not the first language spoken by the large group of people. With no phones in the room, and no posted number to call, it was a very stressful moment. From the wedding venue, we were able to contact the front desk through a series of connections. After explaining the situation, we were told that security would check the floor within 20 minutes. Eventually the situation resolved itself, however not as a result of security presence. The lack of safe communication from the room, and minimal security presence, are the reasons that I would suggest thinking carefully before choosing this property.

We arrived after the 4am check in time but the staff was friendly and very helpful....even offered suggestions of a place we could get food at that early time of the day. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space! I’d definitely stay here again when in the area!

With this price it's okay. It's neither amazing nor bad, I will rank between fair and good.

Not a happy camper

The bed is not firm enough for 2 people to sleep in. No comfy chair to sit and read in while other person uses the bed. No tv in the room. I barely slept in the 2 nights I was there.

Basics with good amedities.

The residance was what a student would get and that's basic with good amedities. The only down side it's a little hard to find otherwise overall a great stay.

-the location of the residence was not available so we drove around for about an hour before finding the residence. -we had to carry luggage a long way from our vehicle to our room. -there was no cutlery or dishes in the room. -front desk staff were good.

Fine for cost. Worked out well for us for our visit to the college. A kettle, coffee maker, plates, cups, cutlery would have been helpful ... as these were not provided which we found inconvenient.

Whole hockey team there the same night as us. Kids throwing balls in the hallway screaming until late in the evening. Adults drinking and partying in hallways and unlocked rooms. Was only given lotion and conditioner - not shampoo. Kitchenette provided, yet no dishes. Only one small plastic cup. Towels are horrendous - scratchy and old, need to be replaced. Staff at front desk did nothing when I complained of noise. I’ve stayed at another residence in Sudbury. I would return there, I would NOT return here.

I like the location, kitchenette, free parking and value. Dislike - unlike what is shown on the rooms photos, the place is bare wall without picture, tv, pot and pan. (you have to bring your own) The address 1390 Barry Downe Road for the residence is confusing to the car GPS. The actual residence entrance is located just off from Lamothe Street as shown on this site map.
