Corcovado is home to the Christ Statue and offers some of the best and most recognisable views out across Rio. Seeing the city from Christ's perspective is one of the most memorable experiences you can have in Rio. Sugarloaf Mountain is equally as iconic and you can trundle up in the cable car to discover the magnificent views from its peak. Parque de Catacumba is a lesser-known place in Rio by Lagoa, the city's lake. Here, there is a beautiful park to explore and a number of uphill trails that lead you to incredible views over the lake and the beaches of Ipanema.
Alternatively you can take a tram ride up in the winding streets of the artsy Santa Teresa neighbourhood. As well as soaking up the antique atmosphere, you can experience great views over the city below.

There are a number of premium airport buses that travel from the terminals into the city, stopping at various hotspots along the way. Alternatively, there is a train that that travels from the airport to Rio's Central Station that connects the city to other parts of Brazil and beyond. You can also get a taxi, though the journey is fairly long and pricey -- it's always best to settle a price before the ride begins, too.
Lots of travellers arrive in Rio from other parts of the country, too, and there are regular long-distance buses and trains that travel to other major cities and destinations.
