The public stadium is city-owned and shared by two rivals, Inter de Milan and A.C. Milan. Each time they face each other, the city flocks to the stadium, it is truly a unique spectacle to behold fans of both teams cheering on their players.

It all started in 1920 when the then president of the Associaziones Calcio Milán, Piero Pirelli, proposed building a large stadium in the San Siro district to accommodate A.C. Milan and FC. Internazionale. San Siro was a sparsely populated district with cheap land, which meant that the project was feasible. Today it is a residential district with modern buildings, many green areas and is located on the outskirts of the center of Milan.

Construction began in 1925 and the stadium was inaugurated in September 1926 with a match between the city's two clubs. Since then, it has been remodeled, expanded and undergone technical adjustments several times. It can currently hold 81,277 spectators. It is located next to the Hippodrome and other sports facilities. The exterior features a large esplanade and an ultramodern structure with helical access ramps, striking cylindrical towers and the roof with its state-of-the-art design to perfectly cover all of the seats.

A.C. Milan emerged in early-1900s from an exclusive club called Cricket & Football Club, which had forbidden foreigners from entering. In 1908 its counterpart, Foot-Ball Club Internazionale, was born, with forty dissident partners from A.C. Milan. From this moment on the city was divided and the greatest thrill of the year is when both clubs play the Milan derby, popularly known as the Derby della Madonnina.

The name of the stadium changed to Giuseppe Meazza in 1980 to honor the outstanding Inter de Milan football player. The A.C. Milan fans continue to call it San Siro.

Italy was one of the first sporting fields to be transformed into a public space when they erected the museum, where enthusiasts of this sport and visitors in general can take a guided tour. This includes the areas prohibited to the public during the football games, such as the locker rooms and other rooms where you can see collections of the different jerseys throughout the years as well as trophies won by both teams. Finally, you can visit the store and buy souvenirs.

San Siro is also known for its concerts. Some of the highlights include Bob Marley in 1980, Bob Dylan in 1984, Michael Jackson in 1997 and big bands such as the Rolling Stones. Laura Pausini was the first woman to appear in San Siro, later followed by Madonna, Rihanna and Beyoncé.
