Puerto del Carmen is a popular tourist resort in the Canary Islands with wide, sprawling beaches and a glitzy harbour filled with great restaurants, bars, and cafes. In a past life, Puerto del Carmen was a traditional fishing village, and many of these values are still upheld in the harbour, with quaint bobbing boats and incredible views out to sea. Further away from the shore, the centre of the resort is a hive of activity geared towards the thousands of tourists that flock there every year. As well as a collection of cultural institutions, there are plenty of boutique shops, lively bars, and a selection of restaurants to enjoy. In addition, there's a vibrant nightlife that sparks into action after dark. To make the most of your time in the resort, check into one of our Puerto del Carmen apartments which are dotted all around town.
Because of its roaring tourist trade, Puerto del Carmen accommodation is predominantly made up of holiday hotels that stud the coastline. These resort accommodations offer all-inclusive deals, have their own swimming pools, and cater to the sunbathing tourist. If you want something a little different, there are self-catering studio blocks that overlook the sea, and a number of authentic guesthouses situated further inland. For a more individual experience, check into one of the many spacious apartments around the resort, from which you can explore the island at your own, leisurely pace.

Puerto del Carmen is situated just 10 miles south of Arrecife, the capital, and about 5 miles from the airport. This means it's really quick and easy to get from the airport into the resort. The most popular option is to grab a taxi from outside the terminals. Journeys are quick and cheap, and you can see some of the spectacular scenery along the way.
There's also a bus that runs from the airport to Puerto del Carmen every half an hour or so throughout the summer months.
The coastline of Puerto del Carmen is made up of sprawling golden sands and glistening sea views. The best part? There's a beach for everyone.
For kids and families, there's Playa Grande, the resort's longest beach which stretches out for 12km. Here, the sea is very shallow and calm, which is ideal for younger members of the family. As well as great facilities, including snack machines and showers, there are tons of places to eat and drink along the edge of the beach.
If you're looking to get stuck into the amazing selection of water sports available, Playa Chica is the place to go. It's a tiny little cove that can be found at the end of the main strip in the resort, and it's surrounded by a fascinating volcanic rock formation, giving it a surreal charm. As well as snorkeling and diving facilities, there's a small jetty to jump off and a restaurant to watch all the action unfold from. When you're ready, you can try your hand at jet skiing, paragliding, and banana boating -- just a few of the fun water sports available on this stretch of sand.
If you want to venture away from the crowds, you can head to one of the smaller beaches that pepper the coast. At the start of the main strip there are a number of tiny coves and bays that lend themselves to peaceful sunbathing. When the tides in, you can join the locals and sit on the rocks to admire the view, and when it's out, you can lay down your towel and soak up the quiet atmosphere.
Many of our Puerto del Carmen apartments can be found around the coastline, meaning you're only ever just minutes from a beach.
