Apartments in Teton Village: Mountainous Accommodations

To the west of the United States lies Teton Village , a small city in the Rocky Mountains. The city sits at the base of Mount Rendezvous in the Teton County of the state of Wyoming. Its continental climate means long cold winters and short hot summers. The city's name comes from the French fur trappers who arrived in the 19th century to hunt beavers. The city is small and beautiful with wide streets prepared for tourism, reminiscent of its Indian and cowboy past. It is known for being environmentally conscious and for the Jackson Hole Ski Resort located in the Grand Teton National Park, just 10 minutes away from the city center. The ski station is one of the most challenging in the United States. Of its 116 ski slopes, 50% are classified as being of high difficulty, 40% as moderately difficult and only 10% are suitable for levels. With challenging, steep sloops and powdery snow high up on the mountain, it is also a paradise for extreme snowboarding enthusiasts.

It consists of three mountains: the Tram, which can be slightly crowded and drops you at 3,200 meters of altitude, the Bridger gondola that reaches 2,800 meters high and the Teewinot chair. It is not uncommon to see a colorful column of the most daring adventurers close to the top of the mountain. These are the thrill seekers who climb to the peak by foot to find virgin snow and extreme off-the-beaten-track slopes where they can feel their skis cut the soft, untouched snow at high altitudes.

However, there is much more for travelers to enjoy than just the snow. At the Grand Teton National Park, which covers an area of 1,255 square kilometers, you can find one of the purest ecosystems in the world. It is surrounded by mountains, including the 4,197-meter-high Grand Teton Mountain. This area is rich in history. Records indicate that it was inhabited 11,000 years ago; however, colonists didn't begin to arrive until the 18th century, when they expelled the East Shoshone (snake) Indians. The conquest lasted for almost a century. Finally, a great plague and their mastery of weaponry technology managed to defeat the proud Shoshone culture.

Add to this rich history the region's excellent gastronomy, whose diversity is based on the enormous range of natural products as well as buffalo, reindeer and elk meats, all rigorously tested by the environmental and health authorities. There are many restaurants with fine dining that have reasonable prices and tasty menus. Teton Village also has a myriad of activities to do: challenging hiking trails, trout fishing, golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, paragliding, local bird and animal watching, as well as bathing in hot springs all year round. For those who love to go on excursions there are numerous lakes, glaciers and mountains to explore. As you can see, there is a huge selection of fun activities, and the best of all is that you'll be able to have fun while with your family. The only downside is that you won't find enough hours in the day to take advantage of all this city and its environment has to offer. Consider renting one of our apartments in Teton Village but be sure to book in advance so that you aren't left without accommodation.
