Places to go in Tenerife

  • Costa Adeje is one of the three main tourist destinations on the island of Tenerife. It has eight beaches perfect for swimming as well as restaurants, bars, shopping centers, parks, camping, sports facilities, spas, marina and a yacht club.
  • Adeje is the fourth most populated municipality on the island of Tenerife. With a landscape rich in native vegetation, it has several protected areas, such as the Special Natural Reserve of Barranco del Infierno, the Natural Monument of the Caldera del Rey and La Caleta. It's an ideal place for hiking, bird watching and for trying the local cuisine.
  • Arona has an important tourism industry centered around the beaches Las Américas, Los Cristianos, Costa del Silencio and Palm-Mar, in the Malpaís de Rasca and Montaña de Guaza reserve, which have been turned into residential areas. You can go exploring around the cliffs of Los Gigantes or go whale watching nearby.
  • Playa de las Américas is known as the party capital of Tenerife, with golden sand brought in from Africa and pristine water. If you enjoy geological excursions, make sure to visit the paleontological sites at Búnker Beach. You can also go surfing, scuba diving or jet skiing. The nightlife can be found in the Las Verónicas area, with cabarets, nightclubs, bars, restaurants and shops.
  • Puerto de la Cruz is located in the north of the island and is known for its cobbled streets lined with crowded bars, cafes and restaurants. Here you can find the Loro theme park, with dolphins, orcas and sea lions. For fun you can go do some exclusive shopping, practice sports or enjoy a delicious chocolate by the sea.
  • On the east side of the island is Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the cosmopolitan capital. You can take an open-top tourist bus around the city, or simply wander its streets and get to know the exquisite architecture or do some tax-free shopping at Plaza España. If you're only interested in the beach then the Teresitas Beach is the perfect place.
  • Los Cristianos was a small fishing village that has been turned into one of the most sought after resorts on the island. It has beaches and a port that offers glass bottomed boat trips, fishing trips and scuba diving. It's ideal for renting one of our apartments in Tenerife.
  • Icod de los Vinos is known as the City of Drago for having one of the emblematic symbols of the island, the millenium tree Drago Icod de los Vinos. It has rich heritage and nature. You can also go hiking in the La Corona Forestal National Park, at the La Culata Cliffs or the Los Perros Cliffs. It's also a great place for bird watching.
  • El Médano is a beach in the south of Tenerife with fine grey sand and views of the Montaña Roja volcanic cone. On the boardwalk there are restaurants, bars and cafes. The beach has sunbeds, parasols, showers and telephones. You can go surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
  • San Miguel is an area known for its geological formations. The Montaña Amarilla volcanic cone stands out among the rest. The city center is well kept with nice cobbled streets. There are two golf courses, Amarilla Golf and Golf del Sur.
  • La Quinta is an urbanization in Santa Úrsulaw with a stunning resort on top of a cliff that has incredible sea views and luxurious facilities.
  • The coastal town of Puerto del Santiago is a small cove with fine, dark sand and a jetty. It's a calm place perfect for resting, swimming and trying the local cuisine.
  • El Sauzal is located in the northeast of the island. Nestled on high cliffs, it has the most thrilling views of Tenerife. You can take some great photographs from the Morador de las Breñas. El Parque, Los Lavaderos and the Church of San Pedro Apóstol are just some of the places to visit.
  • Los Realejos is known for its protected areas, the 20 religious sites, farms and landscapes ideal for paragliding or windsurfing.
  • El Puerto Güimar has a fishing pier and beach known as La Charcada. Cabeza Beach stretches nearly a kilometer long, its boardwalk is called Las Palmeras and here you can find all of the social and commercial activity. There are good restaurants, a yacht club and many sporting activities.
  • Tacoronte is a beautiful terracotta village located in the northeast of Tenerife. It's a wine-producing region where you can taste their wines at the same time as you try their cuisine. You can also go hiking.
  • Playa San Juan is a small fishing port protected from the wind where you can fish, go paddle surfing, rent a small boat and eat freshly caught fish.
  • Bajamar has many natural pools that have formed along the volcanic rocks. You can visit Santa Cruz, La Laguna, the natural pool of Mariane and the pool of Redondo. You can also surf at Las Bordas.

How to get to Tenerife

Tenerife has two airports: Tenerife Norte and Tenerife Sur, the latter having the most traffic in flights. The bus line number 343 connects the two air terminals in 50 minutes. The number 111 line connects it with Santa Cruz and the main beaches. You can take a taxi from the exit by the gates, but don't forget to ask for a receipt. For more freedom you can also rent a car.
