Arrive in Rome -- Getting From the Airport to the City Centre

Rome has two airports, the Leonardo da Vinci (also known as Fiumicino ) and Ciampino Airport. The former sits 30km outside of the city centre whilst the latter is closer at just 15km away, and is regularly served by low-cost airlines.

If you're travelling to Fiumicino, there is the Leonardo Express train which connects the airport to the city centre every 30 minutes, as well as a busy taxi rank located just outside. There is also a shuttle bus that runs from the airport to Rome's central station, Termini, and regular buses that leave from the on-site bus station.

From Ciampino airport there are similar options. There's a direct train to the city centre (but you'll have to hop on the shuttle bus to get to the airport's station), two bus services that leave from directly outside the terminal, and a taxi rank.

You can also arrive in Rome via other European cities by train on the efficient cross-country service. Most routes terminate at the Stazione Termini, Rome's main train station.

Exploring Rome -- Getting Around

Rome boasts a selection of great transport options for tourists. There are expansive tram and bus services that run from early in the morning until midnight and encompass all the major sightseeing points.

There is also a fast and reliable train service which connects wider points of interest in Rome as well as other destinations in Italy and surrounding countries. If you're looking to explore outside of Rome, you will likely depart from Stazione Termini which is the main transport hub in the city.

Rome also has a small metro system, though there are only two lines on the service which bypass the city centre, meaning it's pretty useless for tourists. The two lines cross over at Stazione Termini -- the only place where you can change route.

Rome Accommodation

A trip to Rome is like stepping back in time, but most Rome accommodation is well and truly based in the present day. Alongside the ancient remnants of gladiator lifestyles and centuries-old civilisations, contemporary hotels rise up, casting a contrasting silhouette against the city's skyline. Down smaller streets, traditional Italian guesthouses and B&B offer a local insight into the laidback lifestyle of Italy's capital, whilst designer hostels provide a cheap, youthful alternative to the huge range of boutique hotels. Wherever you decide to rest your head there will plenty of stories to dive into, both old and new.

Only-Be a Local in Rome

Rome is a huge tourist destination, but there are ways you can explore it like a local. You can wander through the market at Campo de' Fiori and try some of the fresh oils and vinegars, stroll up to the top of Gianicolo Hill and admire the spectacular city views, visit the Jewish quarter and try some of the local cuisine, and spend an afternoon in the San Lorenzo District, which boasts a collection of design-led cafes, quirky shops, and a young, trendy atmosphere. Staying in an apartment is the perfect way to immerse yourself in Rome like a local, and we have a number of Rome apartments in all of these areas.

Pets and dogs friendly apartments in Rome

We have a selection of dogs and pets friendly apartments in Rome. Most of them are in the center of the city. They are well-equipped apartments with everything you need to make your dog or pet feel at home. Your dog or pet also deserves a holiday so do not leave it behind and bring your pet or dog to the apartment you have rented
