Apartments in Puerto Rico -- Cheap Places to Stay

Set on the coast of Gran Canaria, Puerto Rico is much like its neighbouring resorts. With high-rise hotels studding the shoreline, wide beaches perfect for sunbathing and swimming, and a collection of activities both out at sea and inland, it's a great place for a summer holiday in the sun. During peak season, the beaches can get packed out with families and holidaymakers, but you can always hop on one of the boat trips that leave from the harbour and do a bit of dolphin spotting. Alternatively, you can check out some of the beautiful mountainous scenery that surrounds the resort, and duck into the many fresh fish restaurants, shops, and bars that can be found both by the sea and along the boulevards further inland. We have a selection of apartments in Puerto Rico all around town, giving you easy access to the beaches and other attractions on offer.

5 Things to do in Puerto Rico

  • Hit the Beach -- Puerto Rico is famed for its beach, which draws in sun-seeking holidaymakers year after year. It's fairly small compared to its neighbouring beaches, but still offers plenty of things to do. As well as a great selection of water sports and diving activities, there are also lots of restaurants, shops, and bars that edge it.
  • Take a Boat Trip -- There are tons of boat trips that leave from Puerto Rico's harbour, and there's something to suit every taste and interest. You can spend an hour exploring the underwater world of Puerto Rico on a glass-bottomed boat, you can go dolphin spotting, and, for the more adventurous traveller, there are speed boat trips that let you explore the coast in an adrenalin-pumping way.
  • Head to the shops -- Puerto Rico boasts a great selection of shops to check out, with two major shopping centres in town. The Centro Comercial sits just 10 minutes from the beach, whilst the Europa Centre is a short car ride away. Here, you can buy everything from clothes and electronics to souvenirs and food. There are also a number of local shops, too, and a market that takes place on a Friday morning.
  • Visit a Water Park -- A lot of people take a trip to one of the 3 water parks on Gran Canaria whilst they're in Puerto Rico. These fun-loving parks are filled with great rides, swimming pools, and performances that will keep even the youngest members of the family entertained all day.
  • Snorkeling and Scuba Diving -- Puerto Rico boasts a rich underwater world filled with an eclectic selection of marine life. There are numerous opportunities to discover what lies beneath the waves by scuba diving or snorkelling. You can expect to see awesome creatures like eels, octopus, cuttlefish, and even rays if you're lucky.
  • As you can see, Puerto Rico has a little something for everyone, from shopping and sunbathing to adventurous watersports. Whatever your interests are, make sure you book into one of our Puerto Rico apartments to relax after a long day. Apartments in Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico Accommodation

Puerto Rico Accommodation

  • Puerto Rico accommodation is mainly made up of high-rise hotels that overlook the sea and beaches. These luxury accommodations have their own pools, restaurants, and fun activities. But there are also smaller, boutique hotels dotted around, and a handful of hostels for travellers on a tight budget. Further inland there are old fashioned guesthouses and homestays that take in the incredible scenery, and there are plenty of spacious apartments that provide an individual way to explore the resort. Whatever type of accommodation you opt for, it's safe to say you'll have a great time getting to know the area.

Getting Active Outdoors in Puerto Rico

  • Though it's predominantly known for its beaches, Puerto Rico actually boasts a collection of activities perfect for adventurous travellers and those looking to add a little fun to their trip.
  • As well as dolphin watching, you can head out whale watching. Off the coast there are numerous whales that call the area home, and you can get up close and personal with these gentle giants.
  • The scenery surrounding Puerto Rico is also ideal for hikers and bikers, with mountain biking proving to be a popular activity. Active travellers can hit the pine-studded slopes and explore the criss-cross of hillside trails whilst discovering some incredible views of the coastline and beyond.
  • Head a little further afield and you can ride a camel across the surreal sand dunes of Maspalomas. This National Park boasts an otherworldly landscape filled with lagoons and dipping dunes, and you can explore it in an unusual way from the back of a camel.
  • The mountains surrounding Puerto Rico also lend themselves to fun 4x4 adventures. You can escape the beach-going crowds and hit the slopes on a four-wheel safari, taking in the spectacular scenery and marvelling at the incredible views.
  • There are plenty of water sports to get stuck into as well, including surfing, windsurfing, jet skiing, and diving. These are great ways to explore Puerto Rico's coastline from a different perspective and add a dash of adrenalin-pumping fun to your trip.
  • For a more laidback adventure, head out on one of the fishing boats to try your hand at getting your own catch of the day. At one point in time, Puerto Rico was a traditional fishing port, and it stills retains some of this cultural heritage.
  • Our Puerto Rico apartments offer the perfect place to flop and relax after a fun day of adventuring.

Getting to Puerto Rico from the Airport

  • Gran Canaria's Las Palmas Airport is the closest to Puerto Rico, and it's easy to get into the resort after you land. Firstly, you can get a bus from the centre of Las Palmas which travels to Puerto Rico along the coast. You'll have to hop on the airport bus which takes you to the city centre first. Buses leave regularly from here and take about 20 minutes.
  • Alternatively, you can hop in a taxi from outside the airport. Journey times and prices vary depending on your specific location in Puerto Rico, but they are very reasonable and offer spectacular coastal views along the way.
