From Palma to Pollensa – How to Get There

Getting from Palma airport to Pollensa is fairly easy with a number of transport options. The cheapest option is to catch the bus into the centre of Palma and then pick up the coastal bus from Plaza Espana which travels to Pollensa as well as some other towns along the way.

If you’re looking for something more convenient, you can grab a taxi from outside the terminals. Journey times vary depending on traffic, and prices depend on your final destination, although they are usually very reasonable.

Finally, you can hire a car from the airport, which gives you the chance to explore some of Mallorca’s spectacular scenery along the way and dip in and out of small towns and villages as you go. It’s handy having a car throughout your trip, too, as it means you don’t have to rely on public transport if you want to venture outside Pollensa and explore the surrounding scenery.

Museums and Monasteries - Thing to do in Pollensa

  • Gardens of Joan March – Next to the convent, you’ll find the pretty gardens of Joan March which, as well as a collection of colourful flowers, is home to a 17th century tower that’s well worth a visit.
  • Dionis Bennassar Museum – Set inside a quaint and typical Mallorcan style house, this museum is home to the artworks and personal belongings of Dionis Bennassar, a local artist who called the town home for many years.
  • The Pont Roma – Also known as the Roman Bridge, this eye-catching landmark hints at the town’s lengthy history which dates back to the 14th century when settlers coming from Alcudia renamed the town after their former Roman capital, Pollentia.
  • Puig de Maria – Make your way up the 365 steps to marvel at the views from the top of the Puig de Maria, a 330m high hill that is topped by a Gothic, fortified monastery. Along the way you’ll pass pretty rows of cypress trees and, when you reach the peak, you can gaze out across the Bay of Pollensa and over the surrounding countryside.

    Pollensa is a firm favourite with active travellers, too, with its surrounding countryside that’s perfect for walkers and cyclists. Set at the bottom of the Tramuntana mountains, it’s home to some seriously beautiful hiking trails, as well as routes that expose walkers and bikers to exceptional views of the bay and surrounding scenery.

    And then there are the beaches, which are set to the north of Pollensa around the port. The beaches are golden and wide, with clear waters perfect for swimming and taking part in some water sports.
