Places to go in Kiev

It is located on Bogdan Khmelnytsky Square, a large open area that has a sculpture of Bogdan Khmelnytsky in the center. He led the liberation of Ukraine in the 15th century.
  • Kiew Pechersk Lavra (Kiev Monastery of the Caves) is a 7th-century Orthodox Catholic monastery, which is noteworthy because of its golden domes. Inside it is decorated with allegorical and fresco paintings. It covers 30 hectares. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can spend lots of time visiting its underground labyrinths, the clock tower, the catacombs with its chapels and the niches, which house mummified priests.
  • Mariinsky Park is a landscaping masterpiece and the oldest park in Ukraine. It is located on the slopes of the Dnieper and is surrounded by lime trees, old chestnut trees and other tree species. You can visit the Mariinsky Palace, a true architectural gem. The Water Museum and the Puppet Theatre are also on its grounds. There are also various viewpoints from which you can see the River Dnieper and enjoy a panoramic view of Kiev. If you travel there by metro, the nearest stations are Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Arsenalna.
  • The Golden Gate is Kiev's oldest monument and was formerly the entrance to the city. Construction of the monument started in 1017 and finished seven years later.
  • Gorodetsky House, or the House with Chimaeras (1901-1902), was an apartment block built by the architect Wladyslaw Horodecky, known as the Gaudi of Kiev thanks to his Art Nouveau architecture. It is located at 10 Bankova Street.
  • Raion de Podil is a historic neighborhood that has become a popular tourist attraction. Its beauty lies in its architectural monuments and archaeological sites. You can get here by metro or use the cable car that goes to the Upper Town neighborhood.

Beaches in Kiev

On the public beaches of the River Dnieper you can play paddleball and volleyball, enjoy a kebab or take a swim in the crystal-clear water.

Hydropark is located on Venice Island, which is connected to Kiev via two bridges. You can play ping-pong, go paintballing, do gymnastics, rent a catamaran or go for a boat trip. You can get to the Hydropark station by metro.

Amusement Park

Seiklar Rope Park is in the middle of a forest. It is a designer park where you can evaluate your skills, strength and agility. The canopy area has two routes, one for adults and one for children. The challenge consists of crossing and climbing ropes. A harness is used for all of the activities and an instructor always accompanies you. It is an ideal place to enjoy time as a family and it is open from 10.00am until 6.00pm.

How to Get to Kiev

Kiev Boryspil Airport is at the east of the city, 35 kilometers from the city center and 30 minutes away by taxi. Sky Bus is a bus line that departs for Kiev Central Station every 15 minutes. The buses are purple and depart from Terminals B, D, and F. At night the buses are less frequent. To be on the safe side you can buy the ticket on the bus website. It costs €3.43. There is also a taxi service. The trip to the city center costs €8 or €9. If you want more freedom of movement you can rent a car at the airport counter.
