Tallinn boasts a huge amount of culture, with plenty of art galleries, museums, and attractions to discover and explore. Some of the major ones are listed above, but if you really want to dig a little deeper and peel away the layers of Tallinn's culture, here are some more things you can do.

The Balti Jaama Turg is an authentic Russian market that takes place every day on the streets opposite Tallinn's main railway station, Balti Jaam. You'll stumble across more than 50 stalls piled high with everything from antiques and locally made jam to homeware and other knickknacks. It's the perfect place to pick up a souvenir, or just take a wander and soak up the atmosphere.

In the evening the Von Krahl Theatre opens its doors to culture-lovers, showcasing a range of performances by Estonian groups and those from further afield. It's a popular hangout for locals, with a schedule that covers everything from contemporary opera and dance shows to unique theatre performances and lively musicals. It's set in the backstreets of the Old Town, so it really feels like you're having an authentic night out.

For something a little more historical, you could delve into the Bastion Passages, which were using to shelter men, ammunition and supplies during the 17th and 18th centuries. The network of passageways is extensive, and more than 380 of them are open for the public to explore, taking you back in time underground.

Tickets are extremely cheap, and the journey offers incredible views as you come into the city. You can also grab a taxi from the terminals for a cheap and easy ride into town.
