Apartments near to Camp Nou: Accommodation to Rent

Camp Nou is one of the three largest football stadiums in the world and the pride of the people of Barcelona who support their favorite club, F.C. Barcelona from the stands. The stadium is situated in the Les Corts neighborhood, a traditional area of Barcelona. It was opened on September 24th, 1957, which is the day of La Mercè, the patron saint of Catalonia. Its history has been connected for many years to F.C. Barcelona, otherwise known as the "azulgranas", and has brought great joy to the Catalan community.

Since opening, the stadium has undergone various extensions and refurbishments. One of the most ambitious refurbishment projects was in 2007, which coincided with Camp Nou's fiftieth anniversary. On this occasion, an international competition was held in order to come up with ideas to refurbish and modernize the stadium. Barcelona City Council and the Association of Architects provided two basic pre-requisites: the general structure had to be respected and the refurbishment needed to be finished before the 50th anniversary celebrations. The winning project used Antonio Gaudí's work as inspiration and suggested covering the outside of the stadium with blue, red and yellow plaques to represent the colors of Barcelona and Catalonia, in addition to increasing its capacity to 100,000 seats and making it more comfortable. Although the project was approved, due its cost it was suspended and only partial refurbishment will take place in order to correct the urgent problems and create the Espai Barça.

Espai Barça is F.C. Barcelona's most ambitious project, both in terms of sport and architecture. It will cost 600 million euros and will include the New Palau Blaugrana, a multipurpose sports pavilion with a capacity of 12,500 spectators, which will be built along with another annex pavilion in the same area as the Mini Estadi. It will have an ice skating rink and facilities for the Barça Football Academy. Finally, the new indoor Camp Nou will be built, with a capacity of 105 thousand people. Another feature is Campus Barça, which will be integrated into the Les Corts community via the Les Corts Sports Club. This huge project fulfills a former demand from the community, who criticized the lack of access to its facilities.

Currently, the main concerns for Camp Nou management are making sure that the roof protects all of the people at the facilities from the cold and the rain and that the lighting is sustainable and consistent with new technology to protect the environment. Wi-Fi will also be installed.

In order to learn about all these projects and much more, you can take a guided tour of Camp Nou. You will see the places where the star players perform. You will find out that many of them pray before going onto the pitch, which is why there is a chapel. And if you are an admirer of Leo Messi, you will have the chance to visit a "place of worship" with his four Ballon d'Or and Golden Boot awards on display.
