Apartments in Bologna – Cheap Boutique Flats

Bologna is a city with two defined sides. There’s the opulent district of Po valley which boasts wide boulevards, hi-tech buildings, and plenty of ritzy theatres, restaurants, and bars. Then there’s the grittier, medieval-inspired part, which is home to the world’s oldest university, traditional piazzas lined with authentic eateries and local cafes, and winding laneways that are adorned with colourful street art. Both areas have lively personalities of their own, harking back to a rich Italian history which is characterised by good food, an abundance of culture, and picturesque scenes around every corner. Whether you’re looking for a fashion hotspot or simply a place to grab a coffee and watch the world go by, Bologna is the place for you. Check into one of our apartments in Bologna to experience the many faces of Bologna. Our selection of Bologna apartments span all areas of the city, and many can be found within walking distance of the city’s major attractions.

Where to Find the Best Views of Bologna

Bologna is a surprisingly flat city. There are a few buildings that jut up above the skyline, like the Two Towers, but apart from that there are very few places where you can get a good look out across the city.

As well as this, rooftop restaurants and cafes can be difficult to find, if not non-existent, so where do you go to enjoy the vistas of the city? Firstly, you can head to the Hotel Touring which is home to a 360 degree terraced café. Once inside, you’ll be led to the top floor where you can order a drink and enjoy the rare view across Bologna. In the evening, it serves a range of cocktails which you can sip away at as the sparkling nightlife starts to appear.

If you’re looking for a more natural view of the city then head to San Michele in Bosco. It’s close to a small forest which is great for hikes and walks, and the views across the city from the peak are second to none. Lots of tourists overlook this hotspot in favour of the more well-known view from San Luca, so slip away from the crowds and find your own slice of solitude.

We have a number of Bologna apartments situated around these sites, giving you easy access to the wonderful views of the city.

Bikes and Buses - Getting in and Around Bologna

Bologna is served by the Aeroporto di Bologna or, more officially, the Guglielmo Marconi International Airport. It’s located close to the city centre – just 6km northwest – and is one of the busiest airports in the whole country. There is an airport shuttle that transfers visitors from the airport to the city centre, as well as a train service that does the same. Alternatively, you can hop in a taxi to your end destination – the journey is quick, depending on traffic, and relatively cheap. Visitors also arrive from other Italian cities via the overland train services.

Once you’re in Bologna it’s really easy to get around. The city is serviced by an efficient public transport system which comprises of buses, trams, and trains. All of the major attractions are easily reachable by these forms of transport, and they offer a great insight into local life in the process. The great thing about Bologna is its relatively small size, so if public transport’s not your thing, you can always traverse the city by foot or by bike.
