The laidback atmosphere encourages days spent strolling through the picturesque streets, sipping coffee in authentic cafes, dipping in and out of quirky museums, and enjoying the vast cultural scene that dominates the city. Set against a backdrop of opulent architecture, a rich gastronomic landscape, and a flurry of art and musical pursuits, Zagreb is a city for those who enjoy the finer things in life. But it also boasts a gritty, urban scene, filled with young creatives and cosy hangouts. The nightlife is on par with the major European capitals, bursting with lively clubs, trendy bars, and a flurry of underground hipster pubs. Get to know the different sides of the city from one of our apartments in Zagreb. We have a cosy collection of quirky studios and boutique flats all around the city.

All Manner of Museums and Cosy Squares - Things to do in Zagreb

Our selection of Zagreb apartments span all of the above areas, giving you easy access to all the major hotspots in the city.

Forage at Zagreb’s Farmers’ Markets

Farmers’ markets are a popular tradition in Zagreb spanning back to the late 19th Century. Today, there are numerous markets dotted throughout the city, offering an insight into local life and authentic cuisine. Pretty much every single neighbourhood in Zagreb boasts a farmers’ market, where you’ll get sucked into a lively world filled with colour, sound, and aromatic smells.

Head to the Dolac market, the most popular in the city. Taking place behind the main square in the centre of Zagreb, it sprawls out over two floors and offers a whole host of intriguing stalls. On the top floor there’s an open-air market selling everything from souvenirs and clothes to fish and fast food. If you’re feeling peckish, the top floor also has a number of bars and restaurants to chill out in and soak up the atmosphere. Downstairs, you’ll find enclosed butchers and bakeries and other speciality food stores.

Britanac is another popular market and offers a more intimate vibe than Dolac. It’s set in the midst of a rustic square and sells all manner of goods, from fresh fruit and veg to antiques and household items.

Grab some delicious ingredients and head back to one of our Zagreb apartments to cook up a storm.

The Natural Side of Zagreb

Despite being a bustling capital city, Zagreb also boasts a collection of green hotspots perfect for kicking back and relaxing in. In the downtown area there’s a U-shaped area known as the Lenuci’s horseshoe. Along this route there are a number of cosy parks, featuring lush scenery and a tranquil ambiance.

The city is also home to a couple of forests. You can find a number of these in the northern neighbourhoods, like Tuskanac and Dubravkin, which you can reach really quickly and easily from the main city square.

Zagreb apartments – Zagreb Accommodation

Zagreb Accommodation

Croatia’s capital has boomed in popularity over recent years, thanks to its collection of contemporary art galleries, its influx of experimental restaurants, and its range of hip bars and clubs that have popped up all over the city. Alongside these trendy hotspots, there are plenty of options when it comes to Zagreb accommodation. The galleries rub shoulders with sleek and stylish hotels that rise up down wide boulevards, whilst the intimate bars back onto rustic hostels that cater to the city’s younger audience, and the restaurants sit next to holiday apartment blocks filled with spacious, self-catering studios.

Getting into Zagreb from the Airport

Zagreb’s Pleso Airport is located just 12km from the city centre, making it particularly easy to get quickly into town. There are a couple of transport options, but by far the best is the local bus service which leaves regularly from the airport to the main bus station in the centre of town. From this bus station you can also travel to various other cities around Croatia as well as destinations in neighbouring countries.

Alternatively, you can hop in a taxi at the airport’s taxi rank (located just outside the terminals). Prices are relatively cheap and the journey is quick depending on traffic.
