Getting to Torroella From Barcelona and Girona

The nearest airports to Torroella are Barcelona and Giron-Costa Brava. Barcelona airport is about 150km away, whilst Girona is 51km away. Getting from both airports to Torroella is fairly easy thanks to the efficient public transport system in Catalonia and regular services throughout the year.

All trains that run from Barcelona to the French border stop along the way at Flaca railway station which is about 16km from Torroella. From there you can hop in a taxi or hire a car to take you the rest of the journey.

From Barcelona Airport the quickest way is to grab the shuttle train to Barcelona Sants central station and from there hop on the train to Girona which leaves regularly throughout the day. Once you arrive in Girona, you can get a local bus to Torroella.

Likewise, if you land in Girona you can cut off the first part of the journey and get the bus to Torroella from the centre of Girona. There's a bus that travels from the airport into the city centre regularly, so you won't have to wait around for long.

Alternatively, lots of travellers choose to hire a car from whichever airport they land at, as it gives them the chance to make their own way to their destination, stopping off in quaint villages along the way. Having a car also means you can easily get around during your stay, whether you want to take day trips to nearby towns or simply explore the countryside that Catalonia is famed for.
