Beaches in Salou -- Sun, Sand, and Swimming

Salou is best known for its collection of sandy, sunny beaches. Llevant beach is the town's main stretch of sand, sprawling out over 1.2km alongside the Jaume I Promenade. As a popular part of town, this beach has a number of great amenities, from lively beach bars to quiet cafes and local restaurants. There are also kids toys to keep the younger members of the family happy, ample water sporting opportunities, and toilets and showers, too.

Then there's Ponent beach, which sits the other side of the harbour. This stretch of golden sand connects up Salou with Cambrils and boasts impossibly blue waters. The sea is shallow, making it the perfect hangout for children, and there are plenty of amenities to make it a great day out.

For something a little more secluded, head to Llarga beach in Cap Salou. Set away from the touristy parts of the town, this quieter beach offers a haven of peace and quiet edged with aromatic pine forests.

Our Salou apartments are withing easy walking distance of Salou's beaches, providing you with the perfect place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing beach break.

Starting Out in Salou -- Getting There

Barcelona Airport is the nearest airport to Salou and there are a few ways you can get to the town from the terminals. There is an efficient minibus service that travels between Barcelona airport and Salou, with more buses leaving regularly throughout the summer months. If you are travelling in summer, it's a good idea to book your bus in advance as these can get booked up quickly. There are also Plana coaches that leave from Barcelona Airport's terminal 1, and you'll also need to pre-book these, especially in the busier months. You can get a pre-booked transfer to the resort for a reasonable price, too, or grab a taxi for the 1 hour 20-minute journey -- this can be quite costly, though.

By train it's slightly more difficult as there are no direct services to Salou from the airport. To start you'll have to take the train to Estacio Sants in the centre of Barcelona from the airport. From there you can hop on one of the many trains that travel to Salou. Journey times vary as some trains stop at more stations that others, but you can admire the spectacular views as you head along the coast.
