Apartments in Marrakech -- Boutique Budget Rentals

Marrakechis a colourful bubble of busy life and rich heritage. Characterised by lively medinas framed with ramshackle stalls and the odd snake charmer, it's like stepping back to a time when Berber tribes bartered for leather and gold, and great palaces rose up from the dusty floors of the city. Marrakech combines a heady mix of old and new, with the antique bazaars bursting with vibrant vigour and the new-age art galleries that are popping up around the city in an attempt to modernise the heavily imbued craft traditions. It's a rich tapestry for the senses too, cocooned in aromatic tea and spices, tasty Moroccan cuisine, thick textures, the murmur of life, and fine examples of grand architecture. Our range of budget studios and boutique rentals span the old-world streets of the city, so whatever you're looking for we have the perfect selection of apartments in Marrakech for you.

Adrenalin-Pumping Adventures in and Around Marrakech

Marrakech isn't just a bustling city centre, it also has a huge variety of adventurous activities in and around its perimeter. The vast desert landscape that sprawls out all around it makes for the perfect backdrop for a variety of fast-paced, adrenalin-pumping things to do. Throughout the dune-laden scenery, you can hop in a dune-buggy and traverse the hilly terrain, take a hot air balloon ride and view the dappled landscape from a different perspective, ride a camel across the desert and experience the slower pace of life, and step outside your comfort zone by dune boarding down the sand mountains.

If you want more adventure, try your hand at rafting through the many canyons dotted around the surrounding areas, rock climb at one of the gorges, hike through the Atlas Mountains or, better yet, zip-line from peak to peak and whizz down the mountain trails on a bike ride.

Medinas and Mountains -- Things to do in Marrakech

  • Jemaa el-Fnaa -- Marrakech's most popular and iconic scene is this sprawling square and market that is tucked away in the medina. It's surrounded by cute tea-houses, lively performers, and stalls piled high with trinkets.
  • Koutoubia Mosque -- This is the largest mosque in the city and it rises up out of the walls that surround it in a flurry of North African design.
  • El Badi Palace -- Once an old working palace, the ruins of this bastion now lie surrounded by lush greenery and the typical red dust that adorns the city.
  • Majorelle Garden -- Painting a pretty blue picture, these exotic gardens sprawl out across 12 acres, showcasing a range of tropical plants and cacti, and grand architecture decked out in rich shades of blue.
  • Saadian Tombs -- Dating back to the era of sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, these important tombs were found in 1917 and have since been restored to preserve their original state.
  • Menara Gardens -- Situated to the west of the city centre, these beautiful gardens are like something out of a fairytale, with tall, pointy trees, glistening lakes, quirky architecture, and the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains in the distance.
  • Marrakech Railway Station -- Not just your average train station, Marrakech's transport hub is a popular tourist attraction boasting grand architectural design with a high-ceilinged atrium.
  • Bahia Palace -- Another of the city's palaces, set amidst a series of beautiful, manicured gardens. Built at the end of the 1800s, it was set to become one of the greatest palaces of all time -- spurred on by its name, which means 'brilliance'.
  • La Mamounia -- This grand, five-star hotel is set against the Atlas Mountains and is hugely popular amongst royalty. In fact, Putin's daughter got married there back in 2013.
  • Marrakech Museum -- Tucked away down the winding alleys of the old centre, this museum boasts a large collection of artefacts and objects relating the city's history and culture.
  • Agdal Gardens -- This impressive plot of flat landscape surrounds the Royal Palace, offering a green contrast to the yellow-dust of the city centre.
  • Bab Agnaou -- Designed and built in the 12^th^ Century, this grand old gate is one of nineteen that spans the city.
  • Marrakech International Film Festival -- If you happen to be in the city at the beginning of December, then make sure you catch the annual Film Festival which draws in crowds from all over the world.

Mapping Marrakech -- How to Get From the Airport into the City

Marrakech's airport is just 10km from the city centre and there are a couple of options for getting into town. First of all there is a special airport bus that takes passengers directly from the airport into the city centre and you can ask the driver to stop off at various major hotels and hotspots on the way. This is the cheapest way to travel and you'll get to see the scenery and sights as you come in. Alternatively, if you have a lot of luggage or need to get into the city centre quickly, you can grab a taxi from the rank outside the airport terminals. The journey is quick and relatively cheap. Many visitors to Marrakech also arrive in the city from surrounding Moroccan towns via the overland train service which is usually reliable and efficient.
