Hitting the Shops in Alicante

With its rich heritage and its luxury Spanish style, Alicante has plenty of great shopping opportunities for visitors, whether you're on the hunt for the perfect souvenir or simply want to sample some of the local flavours.

If you're feeling peckish head to the Mercado Central, a farmer's market situated in a grand 100-year-old building. Here, you can browse the numerous stalls which are piled high with local goods and delicious food. Even if you're not looking to buy anything, it's still worth a wander to explore the local tastes of Alicante.

Rambla de Mendez Nunez is the most popular shopping street in Alicante, boasting a wide, tree-lined boulevard. You can dip in and out of boutique stores and local shops and stop along the way at pretty cafes and cosy bars.

For those looking to explore the more creative side of Alicante, head to the Artmarket, which takes place every evening at the Paseo Gadeo. It brings together local artists and their work, giving you ample opportunity to browse watercolours, sketches, and sculptures.

Whatever kind of shopper you are, make sure you snap up one of our Alicante apartments so you've got somewhere to drop off your bags before you hit the beach and the bars.
Apartments in Alicante – Alicante Accommodation

Alicante Accommodation

Its beachside location means Alicante accommodation is predominantly made up of waterfront hotels and seaside apartments, but there are other, more traditional places to stay too, including cute guesthouses and design-led hostels. Alongside the beach you'll find there are many luxury hotels complete with private sands and pools, as well as stylish apartments that overlook the crystal clear Mediterranean waters.

Arriving in Alicante and Getting Around

Getting to Alicante from the airport is easy with the public transport on offer. Buses travel every hour from the terminals to the city centre and offer the most affordable way to get into town. Taxis are also a popular option, with quick journeys and very affordable prices. Bear in mind that prices rise slightly at night, and always remember to agree on a price before you get in. Alternatively, you can hire a car from the airport so you can travel into town at your own pace and explore some of the beautiful scenery that surrounds the resort. There is a lot to see and do around Alicante and along the Costa Blanca, so having a car to hand is convenient, giving you access to small fishing villages and tiny hillside towns.

Once you're in Alicante there are buses and trams that travel around the city and to other resorts along the coast, too, but it's unlikely you'll need to use public transport at all to get around Alicante itself. If you're looking to explore regions outside of the resort, there are plenty of buses and taxi services for the journey. Some people choose to hire bikes to zip quickly from one place to the next, and the countryside landscapes that surround the resort are the perfect backdrop for cycling trips. Usually, though, you can walk from one hotspot to the next as the centre of the resort itself is relatively small.
